. SIR PERCY, winner of last year's Vodafone Derby, is unlikely to race again. The Marcus Tregoning-trained colt was a short-head victor in last year's Epsom Classic in a thrilling four-way finish. However, SirPercy has not won a race since, turning in disappointing efforts in the Coronation Cup and at Royal Ascot on his two most recent starts. Owner Victoria Pakenham said: "I don't think (he will run again). He's had enough and I wouldn't want to put him through it again. "I remember someone once saying to me 'you don't want an intelligentracehorse' and I think he's probably a bit too clever. "We are at the moment looking to get a suitable place for him to stand at stud. "We are not temptedby overseas interests as we want him to stand in England. "Fingers crossed, we have found an interesting place for him to go but nothing is signed until it's signed," she told At The Races. "We are quietly optimistic and very happy it's somewhere where he will get good mares and we have bought a couple of fillies so we will be sending those." Sir Percy was unbeaten in four starts as a juvenile, claiming the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the Dewhurst at Newmarket. He also finished second to George Washington in the 2,000 Guineas and turned in a creditable effort when fourth in the Dubai Sheema Classic earlier in the year. Pakenham added: "I think people forget because he's not the typical profile for a Derby horse. "He was unbeaten at two and a very precocious two-year-old and on that run in the Guineas, in any normal year he would have won. It's very, very good form. "We think he has got a good, exciting career at stud."
