![]() So that's who Gallant was on about the other day........
Yeah, i'm not sure if he is up to Gr1 level, but he is a nice horse. I think the Irish St Leger is his main plan.

![]() Nice pic of Ask on RP.....
(Yeah brock i believe he's going). ![]() Wheels firmly in motion as Ask warms up for King George bid by Tony Elves ASK was on the easy list for a short time after his two-length defeat of Scorpion in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester in May, but the wheels are firmly in motion to get the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt to Ascot on Saturday for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. With that engagement in mind, it was time for some graft on the Limekilns round gallop on Friday morning, and the Sadler's Wells colt looked in good shape under Kevin Bradshaw as he took a couple of lengths out of his lead horse in pleasing style. The Ascot jewel might not possess the strength in depth this time around, and Ask has already shown he is capable of a high level of form when fresh. After the heavy rain on Friday, the Al Bahathri Polytrack was the chosen venue for the Stoute team, and Jeremy (Ryan Moore) looked in good shape as he prepared for the Sussex Stakes when going clear of his companion. Tawaassol (Bradshaw) moved nicely in his spin with Kasseema and Al Tharib, and Arabian Gulf enjoyed some easy work with Regal Flush and Gulf Express. After a changeover, Hard Top (Maxine Cowdrey) led Distinction (Moore), who is building up to a run in the Goodwood Cup. John Gosden has the Gordon Stakes in mind for Raincoat and he looked in good nick on the across-the-flat gallop on Racecourse Side when striding on from his workmate. Stronghold has been a stalwart for Gosden and took further steps towards his return when working nicely with his workmate. Jeremy Noseda was on the Al Bahathri with Falmouth Stakes heroine Simply Perfect and she looked in shape ahead of her next engagement in the Prix d'Astarte at Deauville on Sunday when working well with her companion. Shevchenko, Arabian Gleam (Seb Sanders) and Secret World were a trio to note when going through their paces in good style. Henry Cecil also used the Polytrack when Tranquil Tiger showed he is making further progress when moving comfortably in his spinwith one other. Walking Talking is another making the right noises and he moved well in company with Templestern. After a changeover, Winter Bloom (Tom Queally) worked better than I'm Sensational (Ted Durcan) in their gallop. One To Note Ask (Sir Michael Stoute) His gallops work suggests he could make up for lost time in Saturday's King George |

![]() From Racing post.....
Eight left in King George by Nick Robson DYLAN THOMAS (pictured) will face a maximumof seven rivals in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. As expected, leading three-year-olds Authorized and Soldier Of Fortune have been taken out, but Aidan O'Brien still has three possibles. Along with Dylan Thomas, former St Leger winner Scorpion and Yellowstone could represent the Ballydoyle handler. Godolphin, who have a fine recent record in the race following the victories of Swain (1997-98), Daylami (1999) and Doyen (2004), rely on Laverock. Dual Hardwicke Stakes winner Maraahel goes in search of that elusive Group 1 victory, while Youmzain could bid to bounce back from a below-par run in France last time out. The popular Sergeant Cecil may drop back in trip, while the international challenge comes from Prince Flori, trained by Sascha Smrczek in Germany. |

![]() French target for Ask
by Jon Lees ORMONDE Stakes winner Ask is set to wait for a race in France next month after he was taken out of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Monday by trainer Sir Michael Stoute. The colt beat Scorpion, one of eight King George acceptors, on his first start for new owner Patrick Fahey at Chester in May but has not raced since and missed Royal Ascot owing a leg infection. Ask was originally bought as a potential dual-purpose horse on behalf of property developer Fahey by former trainer Simon Christian, but if he continues to excel on the Flat a switch to jumping is likely to be delayed. Christian said on Monday: “All the entries and running plans are left to Sir Michael Stoute but Ask has had a foot problem and Sir Michael told Mr Fahey he might not quite be ready for Saturday. “It's disappointing for the owner as the race has cut up but Sir Michael did mention he might be able to target a race at Deauville in August. If Ask can prove himself a genuine Group 2 or Group 1 horse this autumn then he might have another season on the Flat.”

![]() So, who wins the King George tomorrow then?
Looks lquite difficult to work out. The ground will be crucial for Dylan Thomas and Scorpion. If it's still soft tomorrow, then you would have to prefer Scorpion. Dylan Thomas has disappointed me this season, i was expecting a huge season from him, but he has let the side down a bit. We know he is better on fast/firm ground. Something which is unlikely tomorrow, and for that reason i am going to pass him over. If by some kind of miracle, the going did get quite fast, he maybe difficult to beat, but as it is current soft, i will chuck him. Scorpion seems best on a soft surface, so the complete opposite to Dylan. He has form with Maraahel, and he shouldn't be too far away. One horse that shouldn't be inconvenienced by the ground whatever it turns out to be is Youmzain but he has to prove himself after some below par performances, and this tactical race might not really suit him either, as he stays very well. Richard Hughes is the man for the job, but he may find himself with too much to do if they carry out the hold up tactics like usual Sergeant Cecil looks slightly outclassed here, and although i love him to bits he might just be playing for a minor role over a trip that looks short of his best, and the ground could have gone against him. Would love to see him win, but i can't see it happening. His run in the Gold Cup was really bad, and he needs to show that he is over whatever was bothering him that day. Maraahel is in the form of his life, but it is slightly off putting that he has failed to win a Gr1 in eleven starts now. He may come up short again, on ground that couls still be softer than he likes tomorrow. His style of racing will suit this type of tactical race, but Scorpion has a 5lb weight pull on him now, which should see them finish close together, and Scorpion might just edge him in ground that he likes well. Maraheel should run his game race though and i'm finding it hard to keep him out of the first three. Laverock ran a great race on his come back this year finishing second to the talented, but frustrating Papal Bull at Newmarket. He will improve on that run and he would have an outside chance, but the stable aren't confident of a big run. This isn't a brilliant race by King George standards, and he has at least shown he is in form with himself. He seems to go on any ground. It wouldn't surprise me to see him run a big race. Prince Flori, the German raider isn't a horse i know too much about. He finished three lengths behind Mountain High on his last start, so that tells us he has ability. The form of his races in Europe are nothing to shout about though, and he may find one or two just too good for him. I can't completely discount him though, as i just don't know enough about him. Prediction: 1st. Scorpion 2nd. Maraahel 3rd. Laverock 4th. Dylan Thomas 5th. Youmzain 6th. Prince Flori 7th. Sergeant Cecil

![]() I think he has a great chance of winning, he might be on a loser to nothing though, because if the ground turns fast (which he likes), Dylan should win, and if it remains soft, Scorpion has the weight reversal. I'm pretty sure your boy will finish in the first three

![]() Ground came right for Dylan, a great effort from him. It wasn't really fast ground but it dried out all day.
Maraahel ran a gallant race in 3rd. I feel sorry for him, as he is always the 'nearly horse' at Gr1 level. I'm sure he can find a Gr1 before he retires. My prediction well out.
