Default The G2 Swaps

Anybody think Tiago will get beaten here?
With the lack of early speed, might Desert Code repeat the wire-to-wire victory he posted on this track in the G3 Affirmed?

I thought Desert Code was the beneficiary of a perfect trip last time on a track where speed was very, very good. He crawled home and if Albertus Maximus had not gotten a somewhat precarious ride he probably could have made the event a bit closer. You can get the opinion of some of the trip handicappers on this site who are much more skilled in that craft than I am.

That being said, Migliore is tough on the front end and this particular race doesn't seem to sport a whole lot of early foot. The bottom horse ran really well at Colonial when probably going a bit farther than he likes. However, if he runs a true race, the only way Desert Code isn't cruising out front is if Flores asks for a bit more early zip from Albertus Maximus, something he has shown in the past.

To answer your question though, I personally do not like Tiago at all, considering his price should be way too low.

Yeah, they let Desert Code crawl through the opening quarter in :24&3, and the opening half in :48&3, all with virtually no pressure and he STILL didn't have much left in the stretch.
But I'm just not sure this one will be any different (except perhaps for the extra sixteenth of a mile which might make the difference). He should have it all his own way until they turn for home.
Tiago seems like he might be seriously overbet here, but Sheriffs is tough first off a layoff, and he has a great record this year on the artificial stuff and in graded stakes races. Not to mention that he is going from facing horses like Curlin, Street Sense, and Rags to Riches to this undistinguished group.
Hard race to play.

Flores is a serious upgrade over Chavez in my opinion, the stretch to 9f could help him, and he will be getting 10 lbs from Tiago.
He has a shot.

If I bet the race, I like the 6 horse. (Souvenir Slew)

Baze/Dollase 38% past 2 yrs - R.O.I= $6.21

3rd start/layoff

gets 10#s from Tiago & 6#s from Desert Code

$10 ex box 2,5,6

$5 tri 6/2,5/2,3,5

$2 tri 2,5/2,3,5,6/2,3,5,6

TTL BET= $104

tiago is simply the best horse in this race imo. i don't see him losing, no matter how the pace sets up.
i will bet him to win, and key him on top in exotics with the 1,2 and 4.
the five and the six have no chance.

I think that really flatters the Colonial Turf Cup, forces my hand to play Love Dubai on the stretch out in the VA Derby. He should be a huge price and is ready to run his biggest race

Tiago looked great, I never realized what a physically good looking horse he was. Again we see Albert the Great show his stuff.

I don't think they are pointing him for anything at Del Mar.. The only good 3yo. stakes are written for the turf..

Although, why couldn't he run in the pac. classic? Not exactly world beaters in the cap division.
