Default Belmont logistics question

Ok-

I need to find a place to meet up with a friend somewhere around the track on Saturday- close but not too close- I'll be coming from CT and he'll be coming from NJ. Any suggestions for a meeting place? Thanks a lot. . .

Seriously? You guys are both like 45 minutes from the track, depending upon where in Jersey and where in CT you both are.

We're both more like an hour and a half. . . So no one has any suggestions?

How close?

The place I meet friends who are coming from out of state and it's only 10 minutes away from Belmont is a NYC Park & Recreation center called Cunningham Park, located on Union Turnpike. It's right off the Clearview Expressway which is the way you'd take coming down from CT off the Throgs Neck Bridge.

Take the Throgs Neck South to Clearview Expressway. Follow to UNION Turnpike and exit off to the right. Approx 1/4 on your left will be a huge facility with plenty of free parking in their lot. There are tennins courts, softball fields etc located there.

Now to get to Belmont. Make a right out of the Cunningham Park lot...and go straight about 3 miles to CROSS ISLAND PARKWAY SOUTH and the track is 5 minutes from there on Hempstead Turnpike EAST exit. You'll see it on your left side.

The Cunningham facility is safe, plenty of families there sunning, BBQ-ing, tennis, jogging...we at SJU use their lot as an overflow lot during heavy event days and bus people the 1 mile to campus.

I would say if you are both going to the track, just park seperately and pick a spot inside the gates to meet. If you are going early, front row of benches/fence by finish line is probably a fine place.

Trying to pick a diner or someplace to meet in the surrounding area may be more trouble then it's worth.

When my friends I used to meet for racing that was exactly where we'd leave cars. I couldn't remember the name of the place. I jut remember all of us changing our clothes in the car if we had seats for the day.
