It will air on June 9th at 9:00 pm on ABC.Sam Shepherd is starring.I'm assuming he's playing the role of Frank Whitely.

That would be correct.

Some person was on a message board talking about being an extra in it and said he was being a jerk around them during filming. Of course who knows what the real circumstances were. I heard this one guy call Mickey Rooney a real horse's butt all because he doesn't like to shake hands (probably a mixture of the age thing and the germ thing) and the guy just came up after an escalator and lied to him how he was a big fan when he really couldn't care less. Mickey probably knew bs when he heard it and apparently he ignored the guy.

Steve wouldn't suprise me at all.Hollywood has a way of doing that with true stories. They should of used me as an extra.I could've told them where i was her first start back as a 3 year old.Dragged a bench down the apron at Aqueduct and was right at the 1/16 pole rooting her home.

Thanks for the heads-up, Steve. I will now refrain from "pre-ordering" it from Amazon until I see it.

but then, i'm no movie person--most don't appeal to me.

Well being that they are actually in the film may have something to do with their assessment, no?

With a character called, "Saratoga Guy" (no relation) it can't be all bad! (Credited above Dinny Phipps!)

I wondered if it was bad since I thought it was going to air earlier in the year- June is just after sweeps month. But I also thought it would air on ESPN, so the fact that they chose to run it on ABC itself is a big deal, I think (unless that was always the plan; I don't know).

I could see how it would be tough to make a strong movie out of this- there's no real dramatic arc to the story- she's perfect until her last race. No ups and downs within her career. Maybe if one tried to portray it as a sense of impending doom- nothing this brilliant could stay with us for long, or something, but otherwise I'm not sure how to make her story follow a dramatic structure. Where's the second act reversal?

That said, I'm still very much looking forward to it.

It might be an awful movie, but I think one should watch the movie and then make that judgement on their own.

This is a bad story for horse racing.....

It's also hard to watch it if you know what's going to happen

We all knew what was going to happen in Phar Lap, but it was a good movie anyway because of the examination of the personalities involved.
