![]() I cashed 6 of the first 9 exactas on the card and was still down about $30 because I couldn't hit a tri.
Did the same thing I always do in the Derby - I bet scared. I always play way too many tri's and bet horses that I'm scared to leave out instead of focusing on the ones I think have the best shot. No way I'm going to let Edgar, Dominguez, or Desormeaux beat me out of a tri since they are/were MD jocks. And because I played their horses, even though I didn't think they had a shot, it cut into the profits that Mario running second brought me. |

![]() got blown out of the P6 early, nothing new
![]() But then had Xpressbet issues with tickets getting placed - received confirmation...3 tickets specifically.... that I had written down as they were for guests.... (of course didn't write down the trans# as I was betting for 3 people, trying to get everyone in)... 1. a $2 win on 7 longshots (loser), 2. a $10 WPS on Hard spun (winner) 3. and a $1 tri box with HS, Curlin, SS, AGS and NoBiz(winner).....As of this morning, they still have not shown up in my wagers.... ![]() So about 300 bucks worth of winnings in tickets that never materialized. Certainly not the end of the world, but put a sour taste in the mouths of the casual fans that ordinarily would not bet on line and probably won't ever again, now. Thanks Xpressbet, you've not only screwed me, but have convinced 3 fans of the the game, that may very well become regulars at some point, to stay away from online betting. |

![]() Not this guy:
How would you like to have a winning $2 trifecta ticket on Saturday's Kentucky Derby and wind up losing $13,240. It happened to a bettor at West Ridge OTB. According to witnesses, the man entered the parlor around noon and asked how much it would cost to buy every possible trifecta combination (a bettor must pick the first three finishers in exact order) in the 20-horse field. After being told it would cost $13,680, he left presumably to visit his bank. He returned shortly thereafter, purchased his tickets and left. Here were the $2 trifecta payoffs for the past six Kentucky Derbies before Saturday: 2006 $11,418.40. 2005 $133,134.80. 2004 $987.60. 2003 $664.00. 2002 $18,378.20. 2001 $12,238.40. Unfortunately for the hopeful bettor, the 2007 Derby $2 trifecta payoff of $440 was a far cry from 2005 and 2002 returns. |
