As a handicapper you are very good. NYRA has been good at keeping up the video with the selections. Remind them to post your selections at the bottom of the screen

At an OTB, the NYRA sound is not always on...competition from harness tracks running...so w/o sound no one knows what race/horses are being discussed on camera w/o the selections posted.

Either way, kudos to NYRA for adding you to the handicapping show.

HES coming close to legendery status !!!!!!!
does anyone know where chuck has been ? i have not seen any posts from him in at least a few days.

I'm the "Audience" Serling and Donovan are communicating with via NYRA feed. The goal of a broadcaster is to reach and grab the attention of his/her "audience". I had a passing comment to make as an viewer of the NYRA show

actually its been quite awhile since i've watched that nyra show, i used to watch it all the time.

but what struck me today was the replays, how many there were and how they were seemlessly integrated into the show. that adds a lot.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I figure the replays work in two ways, most importantly ( obviously ) you want to show interesting trips, as this helps educate for the immediate and theoretically for the future, and secondly you can use them to enhance the broadcast and allow the viewer to stare at us less. Plus, it's nice to show clips of the leading horses in any feature.

The goal of anybody on TV, from the lowest to the highest level, is to get people to watch you. Hopefully we are encouraging more people to pay attention.

its really so much better than two guys just reading from their notes, hearing the comments and at the same time seeing what is being described is much more informative and takes full advantage of the medium.

The goal is to analyze the races....and not specifically the horses. You want to encourage people to think about how they structure their bets and you can arrive at that by disecting individual races or race sequences.

On one of your shows, did Andy Beyer ever say that Curlin was gunna run about 19th in the Kentucky Derby? If he did, then was he being serious?

That was on " Playing to Win ", my Youbet show last year, where he picked Street Sense to win the Derby. I'm sure he was being serious.

[quote=blackthroatedwind]I love how whenever you make a correct criticism of a rider, Chavez has real gate problems, someone shows up with their next winner.....as though that has anything to do with what you were talking about.

But G Stevens was on HRTV talking about what a great speed rider Jorge is.

He also said while analyzing the 8th race and looking at mucho machos pps that sammarco should have no problem breaking his maiden in his next start. News flash GS; Sammarco won the 2nd race. You would think he would be watching the hot young horses like that since hes IEAH new hotshot Bloodstock agent.
