Obviously I have no idea what the deal with the horse, but his Thorograph sheet was very good, and had the pedigree to do almost anything. It is very curious for the drop but I think could have been worth the risk for 25k....time will tell

They lost 400k on that horse(500k + training costs/ - about 85k earnings n' 25k received for claim.) Just shows ya how much money some people have to piss away. Hard to believe taxes on the rich are too high when these people can afford to throw money away (like it's a hamburger wrapper.)

The drop was so strange I am sure it scared a lot of people off. You could get Lava Man or you could get a horse that will never run again.

I would almost guarantee that you will see that horse in for 50 next out, unless something is wrong, and what races are carded...

I also like trying to figure out what the plan is for the new connections, if he was even claimed, I haven't been able to look yet.....

Baffert hates to put up with paying workman's comp. So, he wants to get rid of anything that can't win stakes races. He dropped horses like this at Del Mar 3 or 4 years ago. They were o.k., he just didn't want to mess with them. He is above this.

If Mitchell or Mullins gets him then he will be in stakes races next out.

I think there's something to this theory. He has plenty of horses, doesn't want to waste his time with mediocre stock.

My random thought of the day: the TVG "mystery leg" is the gayest thing on TV right now.

Beverly Lewis owned the horse so I'm sure the drop had to be OK's by the Lewis'. It seems like Baffert hates a lot of thing about racing in California these days. If he were a younger man he'd probably leave So.Cal.

Your horse Afternoon Gold is a good fit in 32/28 maiden claimers. I have the droppers in my wagers but I would not be surprised to see Afternoon Gold close to win. I put AG in a pick three with 2,5/ 3,6,11.
