Another tough loss for Beholder, her beyer came back 110, same as Stellar, both are exceptional fillies, Beholder better pressing the pace, The BC Distaff will be one helluva race, I believe Beholder gets her revenge and wins in a laugh...............

well it looks like Stellar Wind is the better of the 2 now.

interesting analysis -
Beholder just lost to Chrome at SA...Stellar wind defeated Beholder,
Does that mean Stellar Wind could get to Chrome in the Classic...

Nah...I doubt it

all the fillies and mares should run in the classic...Beholder, Stellar Wind and Songbird.

with no colts worth a dam at this point in the year, you have Frosted as a contender, and perhaps Arrogate. In the Awesome again, Chrome jogged on home, shut down with 100 yards to go, in front of Dortmund who is a really good horse...Chrome made him look like a claimer

not only with the fillies and mares in the classic, would that make a better race for the ITM positions in the BCC, but it frees up other distaffers to make that race competitive as well .

Beholder has been more successful in the last couple of years chasing a target early. Inside draws have forced her hand early in the Vanity, Hirsch, and Lady's Secret, so presuming she settles into a stalking position in the BC, we will see definitively whether or not she's lost a step (the speed figures don't suggest it).

Furthermore, Stellar Wind is suspect to hold her form. She has been campaigned sparingly ever since she made her first 3 starts for Sadler in quick succession culminating in a defeat in the KY Oaks. She was all out at the wire and now has to recover enough to compete in 4 weeks time instead of her normal 8 weeks.

The interesting thing to anticipate is the pace scenario. I haven't followed the East Coast closely, but Cavorting is a closer as I believe Curling and Forever Unbridled are. Will there be anyone in there to match strides with Songbird early?

I also would anticipate a very aggressive ride on Songbird. Something like this. Though dont think Songbird is as good as the winner, and probably the horses chasing are better. But aint no way they gonna go slow and make it some turf race at the quarter pole.

The $2 million Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) will be the ninth race on the program, with a post time of 4:35 p.m. PT, or 2:30 on friday in new york, 330 in chicago

I think a PLACE effort in the BCC might pay more than the winners share of the BCD or the differences in the amounts- Place BCC vs Win BCD- is immaterial

The Distaff is starting to look like the strongest race of BC Weekend,I'm a Catterbox made the Spinster look easy on Sunday.
That's another easy Gr. 1 winner exiting the now key race Personal Ensign on Travers day.
For the life of me I don't know what the first two finishers [Curalina/Cavorting]were waiting for to run back.
I'm glad Dallas Stewart/Larry Jones didn't leave their sharpies in the barn and actually did what you're supposed to do with high quality race horses.........run them.

The Personal Ensign is a key race because two also rans came back to beat overmatched fields as gigantic favorites?

Both 3-5 or less and one of them beat 4 other horses.

The only thing to take from PE race is that Cavorting can be very good around 2 turns. I think most people knew and still know that the other fillies were very real G1 quality. No earth shattering news there.

What makes the Distaff a great race, is depth of potential winners, IMO Songbird is a bad bad favorite, not because I don't like her or because she hasn't been super, just because she meets a deep field, and will need to run lengths faster then she ever has in order to beat 5 other serious G1 types. If Songbird beats this group with the same easy she has dispatched the 3 year olds, I am joining the Songbird belongs in same conversation with the other all time greats. Nothing in any of her races too date makes be want to bet on her. She wins I lose sport wins

I can't see the field ending up as stacked as it could be. One of the top contenders is bound to get "sick."

You flipped the time zones...that would be 7:35 pm on Friday in NY and 6:35 pm in Chicago.
