also when 'polytrack' brand is used they find local sand and other local components to make up the surface so the difference could lie there as well.

Funny that now all of a sudden Turfway had to redo it all and now Woodbines seems to be able to be "tweaked". Funny, the marketing guys said that this was not so, just a uniform surface that required no maintenance.
Remington Park tried some surface awhile back that was like Poly, and it produced wickedly fast times.

Ummm...it is still maintenance free. What the tracks are trying to do is to create the best racing surface there is. You have to test the surface before you know how to make it perfect. This isnt "maintenance", this is making the track better. Anyone can see that.
