WTF was that all about?!? Since when the hell does EC start running his best race from that far back?? Almost 10 lengths back after the first 6 furlongs?? I would love to know what JV was thinking taking him back that far. Was it Pletchers idea? A grade 1 race surely aint the damn time to try a different type of running style.

'Cole...I missed the race yesterday. I just got back from a weekend at the lake, so it was the first chance I had to watch the replay. I knew that he had finished second since I had talked to Bethani and Hooves, but I was shocked to see him taken back so far. Really strange.

Hope you are doing well.

Kev, he looked like he was being strangled back by JV going into the first turn and down the backstretch. His head was up higher than I've ever seen him run. I think he wasted alot of energy in the first half mile because of that. I didn't think he'd even get 2nd after that. Ran better than I thought. Don't know what they were thinking but don't count him out of the BC Turf yet. Doesn't he have a fondness for the Monmouth turf course?

IMO....I agree with Durkin. I don't think there is a chance in hell that the fractions posted for that race are correct. :22 3/5 for the first 1/4 and a :46 2/5 half?? No f*cking way. They were crawling early on.

Maybe crawling is a poor choice, but you and I have both watched enough races to know that there is no way in hell they went the fractions posted.

Not that it matters either way, as EC clearly got beat. Borel gave a typical up the rail move on a very good horse and JV gave a very suspect ride. Other than EC's maiden breaking win, there isn't a race in his form where he was anywhere close to being 9-10 lengths back after the first 6 panels. Very strange...

It isn't strange. Horse is dry my friend. Squeezed dry. My guess is that he won't race again and go to stud in Japan or Paraguay (THANK GOD!!!)
