![]() It seems this topic may need a thread of it's own. Shooting from the hip, brainstorming I guess, if the Big A is sold then Belmont alone cannot handle all the horses and racing year round. The logistics of that raise many, many red flags.
So here's an opportunity however. Sell the Big A and a new track must be built. It creates an opportunity for the Big A parcel and a new track creates an opportunity in a new NY location. Where would you like to see a new track built to replace the Big A development into a Walmart ? |

![]() There will not be a new track built in the Metropolitan area. There would be barns added at Belmont for the horses stabled at AQU. In terms of the winter racing, the logical thing to do is rebuild the BEL training track with a Poly surface and build a small state of the art simulcast/broadcast viewing pavillion as the Grandstand/Clubhouse.

Also, we might have to lose some of the backstretch parking lot for new barns or use the area right behind the 1st turn on the TT where those soccer/softball fields are located.

![]() Does NY need a new track if A is sold? No.
I can't possibly think of where to put another track in NY. NYRA should take the money and put it into Belmont and Saratoga. I'm sure the windfall would be best spent sprucing up both of those facilities. At a minimum, it sounds like they could both make life a lot better by renovating (or rebuilding) the quarters for the stable staff at both tracks. As far as dates, run Belmont April-Jun and Sep-Nov; Saratoga Jul-Aug. No need for winter racing because once PA start pumping the slot revenue into purses at Penn National and Philly Park they will be on par with (if not exceed) NY. The horses that don't head south to Miami or New Orleans can race there. |

![]() I would like to see NYRA buy Finger Lakes and build it up to match it's location. It's arguably the most beutiful part of NY state but the track is a dump.
