I guess the question most have then is why was the blog pulled from the site subsequently following questioning of his information?

Seems like he could have just corrected or clarified the posted information, then carry on business as usual, right?

you may like that guy and have thought he was good on your show...but the fact is he printed erroneous information and should have to answer to that...instead CD and YOU seem more inclined to pretend that nothing ever happened and that he should just have it all go away...

that's bullsh*t....just as YOU learned last year with showing up...if you f*ck up you have to face the music...explain yourself and eat some crow.

Press office's decision after Larry Jones heard about it and was upset that the clocker would say that.

There'd be a long, long line of volunteers of the guy in question...

In the version I saw, the quote was NOT attributed; they may have amended it prior to taking it down. There's nothing wrong with him quoting a clocker if he did attribute it.

The questioning didn't come from what was said, it came from the fact that he stated that the colt was sore at CHURCHILL DOWNS, when in fact, the work was at Keeneland! Then he states that Curlin however was handling the CD surface great, when Curlin hadn't even worked at CD yet...

When he was questioned about this by people posting comments on his blog, he got nasty... that was unnecessary. He should have corrected his original comment, apologized and moved on... but nope.

That makes him a brilliant choice then to have quoted about something that extreme.

You're correct... the quote was NOT attributed. I only wish I had copied and pasted the original article.

My guess, and it's just that, a guess is that KY derby.com prefered that only "happy happy, joy joy, flowers and puppy dog stoies" be posted on the blog. They prefer to see any "negative" stories (who doesn't look good, what trainer seems concerned etc) be dug up and presented by outside talent. They want their "in house" on site guy to tell the happy side of the runup to the Derby. Even though he's a blogger, he's an employee (salaried or contractually) of the Downs and they may feel that they have an image to present.

I'm sure Justin has learned a valuable lesson. It is doubtful he'll implicitly trust second hand information from less than legitimate sources ever again. He'll probably also learn to fact check before he writes.

By the way, Street Sense didn't look so good this morning working over the track at Ellis Park. At least that's what I've heard.

Well at the very least we know he is a man. Because we never admit a mistake.
