![]() Ugh NY breds are the bane of my handicapping existence.
And it's even more aggravating knowing that it's a failing welfare funded garbage program that punishes bettors. But good luck guys. God damn I just want races where there is some sort of semblance of fair pace. Not damn near 23 opening quarters. |

![]() Gotta love it. Dumb ass on the 1 takes the 3 out of the race.

![]() Geez, how did the 6 get up to 5-1? When I put in my bet with a minute or two to post the horse had gone down to 7-2. I would have taken the 6 over the 3 at 5-1.

![]() The only way you like the 6 at 5-1 or less is if you're resigned to the fact that the trainer has an incredible edge with moving up cripples.
Almost like a Jesus with horses. |

![]() Or you compare Castellano's race riding knowledge with Evans, Lanerie, Saez, and Cornelio - only Rajiv stood a tactical chance there when he was fifth on the outside, but those fractions were just too slow.

Saw that you took Lanerie on Romancing the Gold - it is amazing to me that any trainers are giving him chances at this point. He never put this horse's speed to any use in that race. |

![]() My liking the 6 at 5-1 had a lot more to do with disliking anyone else in this field than finding positives with the 6.
And yes, Scott, I wasn't thrilled with Lanerie riding the 3. I threw out in my pk5 because I expected the horse to be 6-5 in this field, but at 6-1 on a Jacobson in a field of mules, I thought it was worth a shot. Like I said, at 5-1, I would have bet the 6 as I really thought the 1 would be, and was, way over bet. Of course, I overlooked the fact that it takes a competent rider to get a speed horse out of the gate quickly. |

![]() Today's third race had to be the fourth time during this meet that I have seen Javier Castellano break first in these 9f races and walk to a half in 49 and change or more. Is anyone else actually trying early in these races? Haven't we seen Castellano settle into that very low posture before when he intends to wire the field in the first 100 yards?
That could not have been a more embarrassing ride by the rest of the field. Note to Cornelio Velasquez : if you want to push for the lead, actually go for it rather than coasting three-wide up the entire backstretch, far turn, and then wondering why you are empty at the 1/8 pole. As least Saez actually tried to press the pace. |
