Default The Best Breeders Cup Races that Arn't Remembered

I thought it would be fun to look back on the great Breeders Cup races that nobody remembers. My number one candidate is the 1987 Breeders Cup Turf. Theatrical and Trempolino gave no quarter in that race, and their battle down the stretch was epic.

Hopefully, 1991 BC Juvenile is remembered (many Cups ago) - when Arazi ran like he was "shot out of a cannon"

Worst, 1990 Distaff, Go For Wand-Bayakoa. Disturbing to this day and definitely no link needed here.

Amazingly you never see mention of Ghostzapper's fantastic Classic:

Actually, both were mentioned prominently in Jay Privman's DRF review of the first 29 years of the BC.

The Breeders' Cup Sprints of 92 and 93 were great races that never get remembered. Meafara ran so well both times, only to be defeated basically at the wire.

I missed that article, but a refreshing reminder of two excellent performances. The Zenyatta Classics are so overused, but that comes as no surprise.

Great Communicator in the 1988 Turf. Ray Sabille stole the race.

It gets some love, but Flanders and Serena's Song was just awesome. "Don't count Flanders out yet... Pat Day goes to work!"

With all due respect, Vic, that was an awful race.

Cajun Beat in the 2003 Sprint for Padua. Never really repeated that performance but that was a HUGE run.

Didn't produce a legendary sprint winner to be sure. However there were four horses separated by less than a length. Also near and dear to my heart for selfish reasons.

I'm quite certain it was the 29th best Breeders' Cup Sprint ever run.

It's understandable why you're fond of it, though.

Yeah, I'll probably get pounded on here but that was a rush like I'd never felt. I think only equaled by calling Lava Man and Zenyatta.
