Some of us think it an outrage that without the new rule in place Boehner would have settled on a deal that not only fully opens the government but also opens negotiations on the sequester. Of course that would have nothing to do with cutting spending but on the contrary increases spending.

Interesting I found this tidbit

Without action, the government shutdown, already in its third week, will continue. And the Treasury Department says that if the $16.7 trillion debt ceiling isn’t raised by Thursday, it will run out of maneuvering room and will only be able to pay bills with cash on hand.

It's a mess but it's a messy job cleaning a mess up.

Come up with and pass a 30 day debt ceiling raise and leave the government shut down till a reasonable budget and not talks on a budget is agreed to.
