Wasserman...

WASSERMAN BOWS TENDON, RETIRES AS LEADING EARNER

Wasserman was pulled up in Sunday’s seventh race and vanned back to trainer Howard Belvoir’s barn, where the trainer said the track’s all-time leading earner was in no distress.

According to Belvoir, the 11-year-old gelding suffered a bowed tendon in his left front leg and is retired from racing.

"He's doing great,” Belvoir said of Wasserman. “Grooms from other barns came over to see him. Everybody's feeding him and he's eating it all. He feels great.

“A bowed tendon needs to heal and he'll be fine. He's been an unbelievably sound horse.”

The track’s all-time leading earner with $575,024, Wasserman is 13-13-13 in 71 career starts at Emerald Downs, including a win in his most recent start August 9.

Wasserman’s magical 2008 season, in which he won four stakes and the 2008 Longacres Mile, is one of the greatest years by any horse in Washington racing history.

Little Bridge was retired today but NO idea why, especially strange as the season starts this weekend.

Hope he's okay.

With Danny Shum, Zac Purton et al after his glorious win in the King's Stand...

On Little Bridge...

Ambitious Dragon is going to stay at home for the regular season and possibly head aboard at the end of the term," said Purton, who visited Little Bridge at the Beas River spelling facility after trainer Danny Shum Chap-shing informed him the seven-year-old hadn't recovered sufficiently from a tendon injury.

"He was the horse that gave me a breakthrough international Group One, so he is very special to me and I thought it was only right I go up and give him a pat."
