Christie comes through on Sports Betting; Monmouth, Freehold, ACRC, Meadowlands, Casinos OK'd to take action..

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...2168?cid=bitly

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie issued a directive Monday allowing his state's casinos and racetracks to offer sports betting without fear of criminal or civil liability.

The governor said he took his cue from previous federal court rulings that found that nothing in New Jersey law prohibits the casinos and horse racing tracks from offering sports betting.

His action is likely to be challenged in court by the professional and collegiate sports leagues that fought New Jersey's efforts to overturn a ban on sports betting in all but four states. That effort ended with the U.S. Supreme Court declining to hear the case.

Pretty sickening reading this thread and then noticing all of the casino shutdowns since this was posted.

Maybe they can find a buyer for Revel.

What are the chances we actually see sports betting in NJ before Congress repeals laws that forbid it? Seems to me just a bunch of hot air

Its coming...we had this discussion earlier where people said it would never happen.

The states are running out of money yet still are increasing their spending so here is easy money for the states....

they are legalizing drugs now, why would anyone care about betting on sports?

also I saw Adam Silver basically embracing sports betting as helpful to the NBA, he would not say that without some inkling as to what is going to happen.

Apparently on 10/6 there is a court date which will of course be postponed and delayed as those interests ice the puck.

Hope I am wrong and yes everyone including me wants to see it come to fruition but Delaware was done this road years ago and we were all sure they would be booking bets..
