In a more famous example of Jermaine badly misjudging the pace of a race ... here he is guiding #9 Stealcase to an 11th and last place finish while getting in a wrestling match with him in the Indiana Derby, as he stupidly tried to rate him behind a slow early pace. It's an especially humorous ride because he had the horse all over the track. http://www1.drf.com/displayVideo.do?...=D&country=USA He does have a few decent qualities as a rider ... but his weakness at judging pace and adapting to the race as it unfolds is a big reason why he's not so well known. |

![]() How about the timing on Race 9 (@ GP - 1/6/13) Alw 54.5k N2L going 8 furlongs as well?
The 1st quarter was originally recorded (as per the video) at 25.4 and the half at 48.4 and was later adjusted. Tiz Yankee benefited from the scratch of Street Thug and had something left late. They had 15k fillies running the 1st quarter in 22.1 and Alw horses at 25.4 at the same distance on the same card. ![]()

Which brings us to a bigger issue. In 2013 why does Gulfstream have such an issue timing races correctly? |

![]() the fractions at GP are not actually timed by normal means. The fractions shown are a combination of Tim Ritvos Lucky #'s and the price of a corned beef sandwich and bottle of water at the track food stand
