For instance, the Riot thread in the Paddock seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird as well.

Funny how Riot seems to be a common denominator in all of this. I just hope she is gone for good as no one has been more derisive then her on this board.

GBBob and I disagree on much politically (which, sadly, is one of the things I'll miss about the Politics Board; it was never an echo chamber), but I'm with him on this one. To my knowledge, she never sent anyone sexually harassing private messages, which is more than I can say for some of the other posters.

Eh. I think people started confusing the message with the messenger. Given a choice between someone being flippant and condescending about an argument I present and someone completely ignoring the argument and calling me a c*nt, I'll take flippant and condescending every time. One is annoying, but still invites discussion, while the other shuts it down totally.

Many posters have come and gone through that room, and there have been some pretty unpleasant ones over the years. As I mentioned earlier, in one case it did turn into a pretty good discussion about the use of sexually charged language as a form of attack- people had really interesting thoughts on it. But no, I agree with you that most of the regular posters on that forum are pretty good about not letting it get personal. I miss it.

Coach did comeback with both guns blazing and metaphorically carpet bombed both threads so that may have something to do with it.
