Haven't read Foote's books yet but I will. Next up is a recent one about Thomas Jefferson that I heard the author talk about on NPR. I'll no doubt get to the other books of McPherson's too.

Also can recommend the Salman Rushdie Auto-bio "Joseph Anton"...very interesting read.

i have a couple of books on jefferson, but none have made me like the guy yet. my least favorite founding father.
