That is right ladies and gentlemen, that was the 3 Bonita Star who wins with now tied for the meet leading rider Edwin Maldonado (with less mounts than Bejarano no less!) who went from 5-1 with 2 MTP to 4-1 at post time and down to 3-1 after the race goes off! Maldonado gets the job done despite a premature move due to the fact he is riding the only horse in the race who wants to go 1 1/16 on synthetic. Who dare says that California does not have the best riding colony in the country?

Great ride by Garcia on Smash, of all the options he seemed to have on paper, I didn't see that contesting the lead with the 6 and 7 as one of them.
