Considering the fractions for the filly sprint race, one race before the Native Diver, it sure looked like the slowest SoCal track I can remember.

I stand corrected after looking at the rest of the times. That was a ridiculously slow track.

why does bob baffert insist on running capital account at 6F? He is 0 for 6 at the distance and 5 for 6 on distance more than 6f. He is by Closing Argument so 1 mile should be well within his reach. I am surprised they werent targeting the BC Dirt Mile instead of the Sprint.

For one the BC Dirt Mile is two turns, at Santa Anita at least.

If they didn't run yesterday, the only other spot would have been the Cigar Mile, which would have worked as it's one turn.

I think your stat (which was mentioned ad nauseum on TVG yesterday) is kind of misleading. He's been close in some of his 6 furlong races and has led way before the 6 furlong mark in his 6 1/2 or 7 furlong wins.

his 0 for 6 at 6f is misleading? Is the logical plan to keep racing him at 6f until he wins one? He will probably win one in ALW conditions where he just inherits the lead as he had done before racing against much lesser. They could have run him in the Malibu.

It's misleading because in 6 starts going 6 furlongs, he's been off the board just once (when he didn't lift a hoof in the Breeders Cup.) He's been 2nd three times and 3rd twice, missing by a head three back.

Maybe if Baffert had a time machine they could have run him in the Malibu, but it's restricted to 3 year olds and he is 5.

Where is Doc Brown when you need him with the flux capacitor?
