i don't know that an illegal alien would be eligible to join the u.s. military; i don't think they can, since they're illegal. non-u.s. citizens can and do join, to attempt gaining citizenship that way
and i'd imagine that they would be listed in figures once they are actively searching for work, or if they get hired and later get laid off, thus getting unemployment benefits.

Yes, undocumented children brought to this country by their parents have grown up and served in our miltary. And no, they won't earn citizenship, but yes, they will be able, effective today, to be in the country legally for 2 more years (if they are approved).

Why only two, I will ask you the same question though I know the real answer.

i don't care for them saying they won't issue drivers' licenses. reason being, you can't buy auto insurance if you haven't got a license. doesn't mean they can't buy a car, or drive it. so, how would you feel if you were in a wreck, the other driver is at fault-and they have no insurance?? and they don't have it, because they were kept from getting a license? and they may not be an actual citizen-but why would someone who is working and paying their taxes, and doing everything correctly be rightfully kept from getting a d.l.? i think there should be something in place that would allow them to get something that would allow them to drive legally while here.

At what point do we hold the law breakers accountable? The parents knew the risk of deportation and yet they still broke the law by coming here and bringing their children. So now they get a buy to secure more votes when they are just people who have no regard for the law.

more votes? getting a work permit doesn't give them a right to vote.
and you're right, the parents did wrong. not the kids' fault.

No illegals, parents or children on the deferred deportation, get to vote. They are not citizens.

It's estimated that out of the 1.2 million children and young adults estimated to come forward and register in the deferred deportation system, only 800,000 will be eligible for the 2 year deferment. The rest will be deported as a result of their coming forward.
