It's not, actually. He hasn't been convicted yet, and until he is, it's innocent until proven guilty. Essentially the judge is saying you can't take away the man's livelihood on the basis of an accusation (damning as that accusation may be).

Of course, seeing as how jockeys are independent contractors, there's no law saying anyone has to hire him.

I understand that people are innocent til proven otherwise. However, if an enterprise decides they dont want an individual on the premises while he awaits his day in court, shouldnt they be allowed to do so? I believe m gill was banned from tracks without a criminal case.

Default Albarado Found Guilty of Assault

Jockey Robby Albarado was found guilty of fourth-degree assault July 12 in Jefferson District Court after a jury heard evidence about an incident involving a former girlfriend, Carolina Martinez.

The jury recommended that Albarado, 38, pay a $500 fine for wanton endangerment. Albarado had entered a plea of not guilty for the April 30 altercation.

i can't believe that's all they gave him, especially considering his past history. yeah, that'll teach him.

He hasn't been sentenced yet. The $500 is just the jury recommendation -- he could get a stiffer sentence from the judge. Plus, the new conviction is a direct violation of the probation he's already on, so he could have his probation revoked and then get a new sentence on the old conviction as well.

No shock here. This ******* is a serial woman beater yet it doesn't stop woman from dating him so is it really a surprise when he beats them.
Maybe this womans family or friends need to show him what should happen to a woman beater.

oh, ok. well, here's hoping for more than what they recommended. i can't believe that's all they thought it should be. he should have to pay all the medical bills too, since he caused the injuries.
