Default Hovdey/DRF

Is it time for an influx of new writers there? Most of the opinions I've read there in recent times have been pretty lame...

The comments are almost as insipid as the column.

I'm guessing Hovdey will be in J. Paul Reddam's owners box and winner's circle photos in no time.

Love Minus Zero is, however, one of the all time greatest songs.

Here is a suggestion for Mr. Hovdey. Go run a 1/4 mile twice. The first time run as fast as you can right from the start. The second time run slower at the start and speed up towards the end. Then tell us which 1/4 mile he ran faster.

Default Love Jay Hovdey

Jay Hovdey is one of the most insightful, well written down to earth writers of our time.
His humanistic approach and love for all aspects of the sport from the stable dog or goat to the regally bred blue blood horse, from the hot walker to the jockeys to the trainers, owners, race callers and track operators is always a treat to read and always thought provoking, some times you can have a different point of view or opinion but to say that Jay's writing is either out dated or inaccurate is both ignorant and ill informed.
The DRF has Andy Byer with his insight on speed and pace,Steve Christ with his state of racing opinions on Thoroughbred racing but no other column writer can approach a wide range of subject with a wide angle view as Jay .
