When "Neighborhood Watch" Gets Out of Hand

Has Geraldo issued an edict to the New England Patriots cautioning them about allowing Bill Belichick to wear his favorite sideline gear next season?

I now am convinced this whole case IS about race and the Sanford PD after all. Think of it this way. If Trayvon had been legally carrying, and Zimmerman was casually walking along (roles reversed), and the same thing happened, what would you have? Answer - a murdered innocent guy and another black guy in the pokey not likely to be heard from ever again.

Where is Zimmerman, by the way? Is he in Casey Anthony land? Is anyone speaking for him yet? If he's smart, he's long gone.

Now there are stories in various sources about three witnesses. Two that saw Zimmerman kneeling over an immobile Treyvon. And one that says Trayvon (100 pounds lighter than Zimmerman) was on top of Zimmerman, holding him down, while Zimmerman was screaming for help.

The police department dismissed the first two witnesses, and released Zimmerman based upon the third is the way the story is being told.

This is seriously crazy. Why isn't the guy simply arrested for manslaughter and booked, so the case will stop being tried in public, and associates of the case have to stop talking about it in public? What is wrong with this police department?

Some lawyer, who only said he was a "representative", showed up and said Zimmerman is hiding in fear of his life.

Geraldo Rivera doubled down on his incendiary comments about Trayvon Martin during a Friday appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor," saying that hoodies reminded people of criminals like the Unabomber and thus put them in danger.

The Fox News host caused a firestorm on Friday morning when he said that Martin was shot to death in part because he was wearing a hoodie. "I'll bet you money, if he didn't have that hoodie on, that nutty neighborhood watch guy wouldn't have responded in that violent and aggressive way," he said.

Instant outrage, and a fair amount of ridicule, followed. Rivera admitted that his own son told him he was ashamed of him. But he stood staunchly behind his comments when speaking to O'Reilly. The two began talking about New York's controversial "stop and frisk" laws, which disproportionately affect people of color. Rivera said he supported the laws, and then brought up hoodies again.

"I'm telling you, half of it is the way the young men look," he said. "...If a cop looks at three kids on the corner, and they've got those hoodies up -- and this is where I got in trouble with the Trayvon Martin case -- if they've got those hoodies up, and they're hanging out on the corner, the cops look at them and say, 'Hmm, hoodies. Who else wears hoodies? Everybody that ever stuck up a convenience store, D.B. Cooper, the guy that hijacked a plane, Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber...'"

O'Reilly said supportively that Rivera was merely trying to protect people.

"Parents, don't let your kids go out wearing these damn hoodies!" Rivera continued. He called the negative association with the clothing "repugnant" but said it was "reality."

True that Thank goodness Fox has it's own TV station. They can keep their own people visiting each others programs on Fox, so their people get "major media exposure"

Amazing how you criticize someone for making comments alleging they could not possibly have knowlege that is supposedly within your expertise (when in reality it really is not), yet you have no problem jumping into the expertise of others while expressing an assumptive clueless position. Of course, we have become used to you accusing others of things that you constantly do yourself.

You have no concept of criminal law, the actual evidence authorities have in this case or what it takes to indict a person for manslaughter. It is foolish to come to the conclusions that you have without knowing exactly what the authorities know. Then again, it has never stopped you before.
