Default Jock who rocked

one of the most glaring omissions from the rock and roll hall of fame is The Monkees. Listening to people try to sing Karaoke on Monkees tunes is worse than hearing them try to sing the Righteous Bros. Underrated singers, the pioneer of music videos. The monkees is must see TV for all children. Davy Jones was the spoon that stirred the Monkess. Rest in Peace Davy.

Default Sad.....

Was it MTV that brought the show back in the late 80's or early 90's? Anyway i watched the shows on then i thought they were funny. Who doesn't know "Day Dream Believer" have always liked that melody.
RIP Davy

those are 17 words i never thought i'd see strung together in that exact order outside of a comedy skit.

you could argue they deserve to be in the fake band for a tv show hall of fame. i'll give them the nod over the archies and the partridge family.

but they didn't even play instruments on most of the songs you know. they just sang over session musicians.

it's sad he died. they had some great songwriter's and musician's backing them. and they made pleasant hummable music. that's about as far as anyone should go.

if it's any consolation don kirschner, the vomit worthy hack who invented them, is going in this year.

And Milli Vanilli deserved their Grammy for Best New Artist.

one thing about the Monkees, you either love em or hate em. as far as singing over session players....duh , that would disqualify many....motown for example.

i would also disqualify all the motown singers that fake played an instrument from the hall of fame if there actually were any.

and suggesting that the monkees are some cultural dividing line again exaggerates their musical impact. they just aren't that important.

I didn't know that he wanted to become a jockey back in England, but someone recommended that he get into show business....

A life long horse lover - - he had a stable of horses down here in Florida & in PA according to Mickey Dolenz...

RIP...."I'm a Believer".....
