Neither party is any good. I just want the government to stay the hell out of my personal life as well as out of my pockets. We're turning into a society that looks at success as being a bad thing and rewards laziness and failure.
Guess my only point was how come people on this blog have such a tough time with what government in Kentucky is doing yet they have no problem with what Obama is doing like shoving heath care down our throats and allowing illegal alliens to come into the country and get handouts.

Dino, if you want to start a thread on this in the Politics section, I'd be happy to discuss it with you there (and I mean that sincerely), but this isn't the right section of this site.

That said, for those Kentucky residents that are upset about this decision, let your senators know. If you don't know who your local senator is, take the time to find out (five minutes on Google should do it) and call them. (Don't write an email; it's less effective) Identify yourself as a constituent, be polite, but make your opinion clear- that you feel that the voters deserve to decide if gaming is right for your state and that you won't support a senator that opposes letting you decide for yourself.

And, also very important- if your Senator voted in favor of letting it go to a popular vote, call and let them know you support their vote and you hope they'll vote in favor again the next time the bill comes up (as it will).

I know money controls politics, but it only goes so far, as Carly Fiorino's run for CA governor showed. Ultimately, politicians just want to keep their jobs, and they can only do it if people vote for them. If they really start to fear they'll be voted out, they'll alter their votes accordingly.

If this is important to you, call them. You have the power to affect this.

Their entire economy is based on bourbon and horses and they're just gonna let 50% of that economy starve?

Weed and crystal meth are the growth sector of the economy from Mr Williams area of the state.

And let's not pretend that intensive lobbying from across the border casino interests aren't funding Church and "Family" groups in opposition. Where do you think they are getting the money to fund their anti-slots/gambling campaigns?
