I know that you are not in the NY area, but I am guessing that you didn't see too many races at Roosevelt/Yonkers in the 70's or 80's.

I remember one night in the '80's my dad owned a horse named Sandy Cove who ran at Roosevelt, real speedball who only knew how to run on the engine but would fight like hell when she had the lead. One night we had Carmine Abbatiello on her as the chalk, she fought him out of gate to get the top and coming down the stretch it was almost the scene from Easy Money with Abbatiello strangling her to prevent her from winning the race which she barely lost. I still wonder how much he made on that stiff job.
