The old "city negotiated this deal" excuse. Because we all know that unions have never influenced elections in NYC. We all know that the unions would never strike or make out of touch demands to those same politicians that they put in place. Really? The increases that were put in place to close the Port Authority's budget which the Port Authority could not balance in large part because of the salaries and benefits negotiated by the unions?

Not to mention that the job is obsolete and every toll collector could be eliminated and replaced by machines at a much cheaper cost except that the union contracts protect unneccessary jobs?
