I remember my older sister who absolutely loved her telling me that Janis was once voted something horrible like ugliest guy in high school.

I know she was an outcast growing up in Texas and it was a bittersweet thing for her when she returned as a star. None of what folks saw was put on, she was always true to herself.

Definitely. I remember seeing them real late at night on some TV show like 10 years ago and thinking it was so cool he was using a bow to play the guitar.
