Def Kev..It's all pretty nice, save for Charleston and anything along 64 heading west into KY. The Appalachian ridge has some of the best topology anywhere near the east coast - Germany Valley is one of the most picturesque locales you'll find:

As for the fabled backwoods, inbred hillbillies, all I can tell you is this - I lived there for 6 years and I've lived in Florida now going on 8 years.

You get 20 miles from either coast in FL and the population of WV resembles Rhode scholars in comparison.

I think the drive on I-77/I-64 between Charleston and Beckley is some of the most amazing land I have ever seen.

Very nice down there - when we drive back up from FL, we take that route to Beckley and then north on 19 to 79... crossing the New River Gorge in Fayetteville, which is spectacular as well - spanned by the world's longest arch bridge:

It is even more awesome when your floating down the New River on a whitewater raft. If you ever get the chance to do that jump on it. I did it twice when my son was in Boy Scouts and I'd love to go back again!
