![]() Spinster:
Well Monied to Win. Been sparsely campaigned for the better part of 2 years now, but comes here with the benefit of a tightener under her belt in the latest comeback at Del Mar. Seems to only come along for a minor award, but when you're coming off the bench and having to go right into the deep end to face the likes of Tuscan Evening, Forever Together, and Dubawi Heights, you can be forgiven for all the "along for third" running lines. Furthermore, she may have been victimized by all the short stretch runs on the SoCal turf courses, not getting to do any real running until late with her closing style. Probably only in her because she's being entered in the Keeneland Nov. Sale, but: gets a longer stretch, switches to a rider who rivals the great Eddie D. with the "well-timed ride", trains well on Del Mar's version of Polytrack, and moves to a surface which historically has been kind to these turf-to-main track entrants. |

![]() I'm completely confused by this...
He’s a really good horse," McPeek said. "We’re just hopeful he’s OK. It looked like he was walking fine. He’s never been hit (with a crop) in his life. He’s so fast (that) we’ve never even had to lay a stick on him. I think he was shocked. Julien rolled the stick over and hit him right-handed, and the horse was just shocked. That scared him over the rail. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...#ixzz1aKXIAgLB Obviously I know nothing about training horses but umm you don't use a whip at all? I mean he did tell Julien not to use it, right? Hope the horse will be okay... |

Sent to Rood & Riddle ![]() “He’s very lame," McPeek said. "He’s wracked up pretty good behind. It’s career threatening and maybe, possibly, life-threatening. If he broke or chipped his pelvis, or has a compound fracture or stress fracture, they’ll have to put him down more than likely. But if it’s all muscle, we’ll be real lucky. We’ll have to see what happens.” |

![]() i find it hard to believe the horse has never had a stick across his ass before...but he clearly spooked before he tried to go over the rail. Really a shame.
