I will answer that question like this. Compare European grass horses to American ones. In general, the Euros are much better than ours. Why? Because that's what they specialize in. It's their game. Well, in California, speed is the name of the game and it's what we specialize in. So in general, California speed will always be faster than East Coast speed. I'm not saying that they will win the races but they will usually be in front and have to be caught. So in terms of early speed, I think that in general, California horses have more of it. When u get to races like the Sprint though, it's pretty evened out.

I see the track surface as the differance. 22/44/57/108 is the same on paper it's a matter of how the horse gets ahold of the track and how deep the surface is till you hit the bottom. I would favor HH to put up some good numbers in the Breeders Cup Sprint, Rain or shine.
