I don't think even his biggest supporters could have seen that coming. In his wildest imagination, Newton himself couldn't have either. Very impressive.

One game does not a career make.

Obviously Newton played great but perhaps he might have tougher sailing against teams that actually decide to cover Steve Smith.

No doubt. I am not saying that he is the next anything. All I am saying is that was the most impressive rookie debut by a QB I have ever seen. 422 yards by a rookie is ridiculous.

Any logical person would have to assume the lack of preparation for the defense played a part. Either way, he was awesome yesterday.

Just generally speaking though, how not good did the NFC South look yesterday? I thought they were the best division in football?

This is true---that's all you were saying.

I really enjoy trying to make you viper spitting angry with me.

But you are so good at ignoring me that it really is upsetting.

I believe the limited off season has hurt the defenses most in the NFL. There were a lot of ridiculous offensive numbers put up in week 1.

As far as Cam Newton goes he benefited highly from teams not knowing anything about him or his new coach and their game plan. My guess is you will see a new Cam Newton in Week 2, especially if T. Williams plays. Even if Tramon doesn't play Newton will encounter something he has never seen before. My guess is he will throw 1 TD or less, 2 INT's, and get sacked 3 times minimum this weekend. I guess we will see....

Hey!

All she said is it was a record setting performance by a rookie.

Don't put nerds in Dahla's mouth.

Oh my God.

He played better than I thought he would however Tramon Williams didn't play and that was a huge factor for the pack. He made a lot of rookie mistakes (3rd and goal especially). He was sacked 4 times threw 3 INT's, threw 1 TD and ran for 1 somewhat meaningless TD. Yardage is becoming a ridiculous fantasy stat in the NFL and is not a true reflection of how good someone actually played. I would take 250 yrds passing 3 TD's and 0 INT's over the game Newton had. With all that said Newton is playing much better than I would have thought at this stage in his rookie year. Credit has to be given to his O-line. He had a lot of time back there on Sunday

But that team still won.

The Browns secondary, usually very attentive fellows.....decided ( up by 3 with less than 5 minutes to go--mind you) to pay no never mind over at Mr. Wide Receiver--AJ Green.

The didn't cover him ...at all.

Nobody home.

Game winning 40 yard td pass to Green.

Newton also tied the record for most passing yards by a rookie in any game, tying the record held by...Matthew Stafford. I won't tell clyde against whom Stafford set that record.

Why, I'll bet it was the same team whose first 10 years of existence are pure storybook...you'd think it was scripted out of someone's noodle and made into a Disney movie.

Bet ya.

From '50 to '58, the Browns and Lions won a combined six NFL championships. Since? Let's not talk about that.
