I don't get how the stewards let Sutherland consistently move her horse in the 4's path during the stretch preventing the 4 from gaining momentum to draw aside and mount a challenge and it doesn't even get a look.

Nick, I didn't have her, but it didn't matter. They could have gone around the track again and they still weren't going to get her.

Playing the rest as a .50 pick 4
1,4
3,7,8
3,5,8,11
2,7
$24 $68.60

Matt, you are probably right and I know this is probably sour grapes since I have been unable to hit the side of a barn lately, but here is the way I see it and it happens from time to time.

As I understand the rule, a rider is supposed to keep a straight path down the stretch and can move a horse to another path if they are clear. She allows the 4 to get close enough to intimidate the horse from trying to draw aside, but far enough to be clear, but still intentionally moves her horse in front of the 4 to stop the momentum of the run. When the 4 then tries to go outside, she does it a second time ensuring that the 4 gets intimidated again.

If it is legal, it is smart riding and my hat off to her. I am just not sure that it is legal and I think a horse should have the right to have a path to run by the horse in front without being intimidated from making the move.

I think you are giving her way to much credit. She was on the best horse from a very good and live tainer.
