the ironic part is that besides MUcho, Kathy Ritvo has 47 starts and 1 win. I am sure she is capable and this may be just an oddity, but has any derby winning trainer ever come in with a similar record?

Woolley hadn't won a race around a turn that year until he won the derby. So far this year, he's 2 for 69.

I don't think Spend A Bucks trainer was all that hot coming into KY.

actually woolley and gambolati were both around 10% trainers the years they won the derby
