What Would BARBARO Do? said:
March 29, 2011
OMG, I’m so sorry Zenniegirl. It wasn’t in the stars. I will light some candles for you and set up a prayer virgil. I will fast until you become with child. The lord who took BARBARO away from us is sometimes unjust, but he works in strange ways. Now, I believe that BARBARO was meant to be the horsie-husband of Zennie. Why else would he take away this foal. Bernardi was the winner in the Preekness, ONLY because BARBARO lost his life under suspicious cirscumstances. The Mooses should breed Zennie to LENTENOR or NICANOR, then she would be in foal immediately. This needs to be done.

Hey Zen! I’ve been doing lots of planning the past few weeks and my absence had to be on your mind. It’s ok! Rest assured that I have enough food and water to survive 36 months in case everything falls apart! And just remember that if things get perilous in your neck of the woods that all you have to do is close your eyes and neigh three times and I will enter your mind and guide you to Fort Lacie!! T.I.C.!

I probably should have avoided the temptation to post on this topic but anyway....I completely understand why folks think the "love affair" among hardcore fans of Zenyatta is over the top...probably is. But the posts on a board dedicated to her cause nobody any harm, why attack people who feel a deep personal connection to the horse? It's not as if this "lovefest" is taking up space here. In the entire time I've been on-line, I have been banned from one board, that was a board comprised of lovers of Secretariat. Now I love Secretariat myself, considering him the greatest ever but I found myself defending another poster who came to the board and "dared" to question whether Secretariat was greater than Man O War, this poster (handle was Dragon something on the ESPN board was in actuality a 12 year old girl, in all her posts she demonstrated a knowledge and intellect far beyond her years and never was disrespectful. I felt that the attacks on her, some very ugly, were uncalled for and tried to defend her right to at least ask a question...we were both banned. While I would do the same today,I recognized that on a board dedicated to Secretariat, folks would not accept anything that varied from their views...and what the hell? Who are they hurting? They may be closed minded, they may be intolerant but it's their space. Seems useless to make fun of them here...especially when there are posters here like me to ridicule for different points of view.

Last time I checked, still a man. Like I said the response to my post is predictable. Everytime I post some respond with "it's all about you" or "your arrogant, holier than thou" etc. Basically, I remember the old days on the ESPN board, every so often, we would be invaded by trolls who basically shut down the board. No way to keep them off a public board. That was the main reason many of us were happy to be invited to this board where at least we weren't subject to such invasions. There are many topics of interest that are discussed here, some interest me, some don't and I suspect everyone can say the same. My question is why bother with what folks on another board are saying? Does it seem off the wall that folks are responding to a horse? Sure, but so what?

Don't you think there is a reason people respond that way? You're preaching is too much and you make everything about how special and enlightened you are. Great, no one cares. My question is, after how much preaching are you going to realize no one wants it?

It's funny that people talk to a horse online as if she is really responding. That's it.

Useless?
I can think of few who deserve it more than people who post that kind of nonsense.

Maybe you are impowered with the ability to judge others and decide what folks deserve...I just don't see what is gained except giving some folks a warm fuzzy by thinking they are better than those who act differently. If that is the purpose then I guess that's fine.

You'll never get it. People get picked on because they're crazy. That site is a virtual insane asylum.

Now that you mention it....yeah, I do feel empowered to determine what treatment others deserve from me. Who else would decide such a thing?
Do I think I'm "better" than some of the people posting on that site? Yes, yes I do.

This one is obviously a spoof. Okay, DTers, which one of you did this? An excellent job, especially the typos and generous use of capitalizations, but the "I will fast until you become with child" was a bit of a giveaway.
