Isn't Manicero stabled at Calder?
I see he was possible for the Hutcheson this weekend at GP.

Stakes are exempt I think.

Either way, it's disgraceful for CDI to drop that on horsemen three days before it starts.

Why does everyone have to have a knee jerk reaction in things like this? This is what is called a bargaining chip. In case no one has heard, Gulfstream is trying to jump on traditional Calder dates. Calder doesn't like it so they are striking back. And Hialeah is sitting in the weeds. Yes, unfortunately the horsemen are caught in the middle, but they can always take their business elsewhere if that is what the owners want. It's not like Calder is the only cheap track on the east coast. It is unfortunate that they can't get all Sharks and Jets out in the parking lot and settle this. Instead, both sides will make seemingly outrageous statements, a lot of dumb things will be said on message boards and other ether-ial places and then they will work this thing out like civilized people do.

LOL
Except the horseman aren't owned by CDI and as such shouldnt be held hostage by Calder. The idea that you can just pick up and move your stable at the drop of a hat is stupid.

Not at the drop of a hat, but it can be done and in a not so long amount of time. And that's precisely because they aren't owned by CDI and therefore cannot be held hostage. The only reason they stay at Calder is because they want to stay at Calder. The terms of staying there just changed (or maybe not) but they still have a choice. They are not being forced to do anything. They do what they do by choice.

Except they are being forced by Calder to not run or risk the possibility of not getting stalls back. That is more or less blackmail. Can the horseman choose to leave? Yes obviously. But that isn't the question here. It is Calder/CDI flippantly using the horseman as a bargaining chip to their detriment regardless of how the end game plays out.

Does the fear of losing stalls running horses away always enter into the mind of a trainer? Can a trainer with 10 stalls at Belmont just run to Philly all the time and run in a 16k claimer without NYRA having a talk with him/her?
