The don't even have enough room back there for a run up to the timing device.

NE 213th St. precludes them from having a chute longer than a mile. When Stronach re-designed GP he initially planned on the chute only going back to 7.5 furlongs. Wouldn't that have been terrific?

You and I both know that not being able to run anything between 7.5 and 9fs when you're a winter-time track with tons of 3YOs would be very problematic. Bad enough they can't go 1 1/16th now.

That kept them in Broward county. The end of the chute is actually in Dade county. There were a few political issues to be settled before they could go to the full mile.

Not that Timely Writer isn't worthy of a race in his name but it isn't there another name they could have used?

The race was Timely Written just for these two horses, hence the name.

The stretch would be about 568 feet, or roughly 100 feet less than Delta if they did that.
