This was the highlight of his career and a race that I cannot watch without smiling.

I remember the race but had forgotten it was Sir Ray. You're right -- can't watch that without a big smile.

Academy Award, affectionately known as Little Red at Old Friends, at 24 years of age. I met him there . . . what a sweetheart.

It's interesting how different horses touch us in different ways. Some who may have dazzled us in person at a track years ago, others about whom we have read and seen in videos but never seen in the flesh, and those who maybe weren't great achievers at the racetrack but have had the good fortune to end up somewhere like Old Friends or the KHP where they make terrific ambassadors for the sport. In every one of them I imagine a heck of a story if only they could tell it.

Blue Hors Matine
Ohmygawd, I had no idea! Thank you for your list. Checked and found out she was in foal when she died. What at terrible loss.

If you have never seen this stunning video, please watch - you won't believe the overpowering athleticism and simple joy Matine showed at her peak.

Since I can't edit these in and for the sake of keeping this as complete as possible, I need to add...

Kossack
Gilsland
Brother Cha
Stormin War Dancer
Too Phar
Belly Button Dawn
Anjiz
Excelltastic
Gypsy Supreme
War Pass
... and Rakti.

Hopefully there will be no more additions and the list next year will be a lot shorter.

I once owned part of a couple horses sired by Academy Award, from back in his Claiborne Farm days. Had a nice visit with him there, good memories. Thanks Little Red.

G thanks for this thread, very nice tribute to them all.

RIP 2 all those that lost their lives trying to make people happy
For future use: http://alphabetizer.flap.tv/

Just cut any list, then paste it
Chrono list is also useful, but the date isn't always known.

MMSC thank you for your continuing commitment to remembering these wonderful spirits who have given us thrills and excitement during their short time on this earth. Kip Deville was the biggest thing from Oaklahoma since Will Rogers. Who would have thunk it? May they all run in peace.
