If only the four or five best handicap horses of 2003 could have gotten in the gate together at some point it would have been interesting. Medaglia d'Oro had a good year and was walloped by Candy Ride, so those three would have certainly made for an interesting race along with Pleasantly Perfect and Dynever of course. You can't compare a 4th crop sire to a 2nd crop sire. That being said, GZ has been horrendous, even if his production of GI winners matches Mineshaft. |

![]() Congaree was awesome that year - and Perfect Drift was a total beast as well. If Perfect Drift had any trainer other than Murray Johnson - he probably would have been the best horse since Bid. PD kept running monster races that year for a trainer who was like 4-for-100 and would claim a horse and watch it sink like a rock to the bottom.
