That looks like the Bluegrass Parkway when I was trying to get to Keeneland Saturday morning for the contest.

Hollywood Starlet Trivia

1) This filly ran second in the '79 Starlet. Later she produced stallions Storm Cat and Pioneering among others. Name her.

2) The '82 Starlet winner, Fabulous Notion, later produced Test winner Fabulously Fast. A CA-bred, Fabulous Notion was also a half-brother to this European son of Alydar, who upset With Approval in the '90 Turf Classic at Belmont after having placed to the great Nashwan in 3 races that year. Name him.

3) This '83 winner of the Starlet was out of the blue hen Courtly Dee. Two of her daughters produced Grade 1 winners. Destiny Dance dropped Balletto and Aurora dropped 3 Grade 1 winners in Arch, Acoma, and Festival Of Light. Name her.

4) Both the answer to (3) and the 2nd place horse in the '83 Starlet ended up running in the Kentucky Derby. Name the runner-up, who later produced the recent (and modest) sprinter, Simon Pure.

5) This CA-bred runner-up in the '84 Starlet later produced top grass horse With Anticipation. She also won the inaugural BC Juvenile Fillies, but was DQ'd. Name her.

6) This '86 Starlet winner upset BC Juvenile Fillies winner Sacahuista. Later she took the BC Sprint and produced the good grass filly Dianehill. Name her.

7) This stallion produced back-to-back winners of the Starlet in '88 and '89 with Stocks Up and Cheval Volant, respectively. He's best remembered as the maternal broodmare sire of Zenyatta and the paternal broodmare sire of her conquerer, Blame. Name him.

8) The '91 Starlet winner defeated Soviet Sojourn, producer of Indian Charlie. This filly herself produced Grade 1 winner Miss Houdini, who in turn, dropped recent classic colt, Papa Clem. Name her.

9) This ill-fated '93 Starlet winner was a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Imperial Gesture. She was owned by Jerry Moss, best known as one of the founders of A+M Records. Name her.

10) This runner-up to Grade 1 winner and producer Serena's Song in '94, herself won multiple Grade 1 races and later produced the good colt Suave. Name her.

11) Chile Chatte, dam of DM Futurity winner Horse Greeley, ran 3rd to this gray filly by Quiet American, later the dam of streaking stallion Bernadini. Name her.

12) The 2005 Starlet runner-up is best remembered as being the only daughter of Vertigineux to have started in a Grade 1 at Belmont. Name her.

I know most of these pretty easily, but I'm going home now.

Hopefully there won't be any intruders today like the other day.

If you can't even get the questions right....

Sacahuista won the Distaff ( and quite a field it was ) and not the Juvenile Fillies.

It takes me on average 15 minutes to come up with these 10-question trivia blocks, so some facts may end up "modified".

I do believe that Sacahuista was favored in the BC Juvenile Fillies if that's any consolation.

Really? I thought the winner, Brave Raj, was second choice over the second finisher, Tappiano. Was Sacahuista even in that race?

Sacahuista was in the race, she was 5th early before falling out of contention, at least that's how it looks in the video, of which the picture quality is every bit of 24+ years old: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKqihiNMi8c

Sacahuista was 4th as the 1.90-1 favorite.
