Pat Day is as good a human being as anyone I ever met. If I ever could bring myself to live life one-tenth as good as Pat has I'd be proud.
After a breeders cup win for certain barn, Pat sent his agent over to the barn with a HUGE check to be given to the help. HUGE. gave it to the trainer and his wife. Word got back to pat that the help never got the check. Nice huh? So pat sent Doc over with another one to give directly. Now thats class. And anyone who has ever met Pat won't doubt this for a second.
Be careful here Oracle...Pat wasnt always such a great man. His life is pretty interesting pre-religion. But he has turned out to be a wonder human being and I am fortunate enough to have him as part of my life.

I think everyone is well aware of what he was in the 70's and very early 80's. I see no need to even comment on it. What hes done since then has surely made up for every sin he ever committed, and then some.

Would fighting to keep the weight scale down so that jockies are forced to starve themselves and purge be considered one of the great Pat Day's wonderful contributions to racing?

I'm sorry but noone makes people choose that line of work. A lotta guys I know would have liked to have been football players but weren't 6' 3'' 300 pounds. Its basically know when you wanna be a jockey that you have to be light. I'd like to see the scale raised a bit, yes. But its not like Pat Day started the scale of weigths that has existed for decades.

You're right but one would think a god-fearing and supposedly passionate man like Pat Day, one who has certainly seen the suffering the weight scale has caused his bretheren, would have been more benevolent. Just seems a little hypocritical to me.

Then again his self-righteousness always turned me off as much as his riding did. Was he EVER on the rail at Keeneland?

I know he was on the rail with Summer Squall in the Preakness when he turned the tables on Unbridled. That was a fantastic ground saving ride.

The only time I remember Keeneland standing in for Pimlico was Seabiscuit.

He was, however, also on the rail in the Preakness with Easy Goer when he shamefully got him beat.

I'm sure from your posts that your self-righteousness was BETTER than his self-righteousness!

It would certainly be a battle!

I do, however, have full confidence in my abilities.

You said you would be lucky to live 1/10th of the life Pat Day did or something like that--well which 1/10th. The 1970 and 1980 Pat Day or the 1990 to present Pat Day. To this day, the 70's and 80's haunt Mr Day.

Euro/Kycherub,
I'm more than just a little sick and tired of having words I post twisted, or dissected in a manner that is less than the truth.
I think that any reasonably intelligent person would realize that what I meant by that statement was that if I could live my life in 1/10th the manner of class that Pat Day has lived his in the last 24 years, I'd be proud.
My patience with you is at an end.

Maybe you shouldn't do it to other people and they wouldn't do it to you. I think many posters have taken lessons from the master by reading your posts.

One thing I never do is twist anyone's words or attribute lies to them.
Thats for guys like you who lack the intelligence or skills to debate or stick it to someone just using the very words that they used, rather than tweaking them or lying.
The biggest contribution you have made so far was to redboard a winner after the race was over. Thats my best recollection of your insights. I look forward to more!!!

"Haunt" him? Hardly. The man has made ammends and walks without any weight on his shoulders.
