I laughed when I read that. How terrible that photographers don't want their work ripped off. The nerve.

I think him getting hooked is a non sequitur here. He went pretty fast early the other day but was well within himself. If someone else guns for the lead, I just don't see him having a problem rating back a little bit.

He also finishes strongly. His first two races remind me of Barbaro's first two races as well.

My favorite type of horse is one that has great early speed and then can pull away late.

Normally I would hate backing a horse with two starts in the BC, but when you have a really talented horse going up against a pretty poor division, well, that's an exception.

Much like Indian Blessing and Brocco.

Though with Brocco I was taking a big stand against the hot Eastern horse that year.

Yeah, they are like mental infants there.

His 2yo season was one of the most disappointing I can remember in recent years.

I thought he had massive potential, but after his 2nd start, he never really lived up to what I thought he was capable of.

Roman Ruler was a bit more electrifying perhaps, but I think it's a stretch to say he'd shid all over Mo.

Would have been cool though to see him do that to Mo's fans (besides me).

Here's the latest from Tardwatch 2010

Barbara, what is equally as joyful as the bounce in Uncle Mo's step, his whinny of juvenile delight--are the smiles and the pride you've captured, seen here, in his handlers. He's a handsome fella surrounded by ones who, obviously, enjoy watching over him.

I think you would think differently if his sire was someone else.

That one is just screaming for a "because you're a... " response.

I think my favorite was the "he looks so happy like "I did it!" post.

Stone Gossard used to speak of a place called Creedmore (sp).

For some strange reason these comments reminded me of that.

Hey Indian Charlie?

I just wanted to tell you that what is equally as joyful as the bounce in your step, the whinny of your juvenile delight--are the smiles and the pride you've captured, seen here, in the posts of your fellow Nerdy Trailers.. You're a handsome fella surrounded by us and we obviously enjoy watching over you.

Not really.

I felt this way about Barbaro, and he was sired by Dynaformer! Yuck.

The only way his being sired by IC has affected my reaction or impression of Mo is that I'm not surprised by how good he's looked.

I was pretty level headed with Indian Blessing after all. That was before I was on here, but I saw IB entered in a msw at DMR. When she was scratched with the intent of going to a msw at Saratoga, I told DrugS that she was almost certainly going to be the BC 2yo filly winner that year. She had insane works and was the first IC runner I'd seen to that point that wasn't out of a nickel claimer mare or out of a mare that was unraced. That Baffert was going to fly her 3000 miles to avoid that godawful DMR track had to mean something significant.

While I was a fan of that filly, after her first two starts, I didn't think she was nearly as good as most other people did.

She went 3 for 3 as a 2yo filly winning the BC and was named champion that year. I actually lowered my opinion of her after each start.

So, while my initial expectations of her were admittedly a bit overly optimistic, I was pretty rational about her once she actually raced.

Most of the time when I start talking up IC or one of his progeny, I'm poking some fun at PG1985 and his totally out of control obsession with Giants Causeway. I embellish somewhat to that end.

That all being said however, IC was one of the single most awesomely talented horses I've ever seen. His first four races are better than any other horses first four races that I can ever remember. That is in my time watching horses that is.

Well that was kind of my point. It's not like Roman Ruler was anywhere close to great and he would smoke Uncle Mo.

Maybe going 6f over that used to be fast dmr dirt surface.

I don't see it going longer.

Reminds me of comments made regarding Conveyance a little less than a year ago.

Hopefully there are no Endorsement-types in the BC this year.

I never seriously considered Conveyance a major triple crown threat (by TC, I mean any of the three races). I thought perhaps he could get the lead and steal it, but that clearly was never going to happen with the amount of speed being aimed at the derby.

If I ever did say anything like this about Conveyance, which I'm pretty sure I did not, I said it in jest.

Was I routing for him though? Yep.

Given his two-turn efforts, it probably would have been better if you routed for him.

Play on words, but yeah, his last two were a drop off.

I think his derby was a whole lot better than most though. That was a wicked pace he set.

His two wins at a mile before the New Mexico race were decent enough.

Betsy will agree with me that Old Trieste's Derby pace in '98 was much better.

Old Trieste was tons a better racehorse than Conveyance.

Remember his dam, Lovlier Linda?

That was a cool mare.

Sorry but I just wanted to see if there were any new and quotable comments and found what i think is a gem.

I often wonder during those moments of staring into space, if they are remembering who they really are.
