I heard from a friend who was on the backstretch at HP during the downpour -crazy rain! The track damage occurred at the base of the gap, that's where they take the horses from the barns down onto the track. The barn area is elevated about 10' higher than the track so the walkway (wide as a driveway) slopes down. A lot of the rain that fell on the backside flowed down the gap. Apparently the gap became a torential river and as it flowed onto the track it eroded away the cushion track - kind of like the Grand Canyon

Here's a photo of the surface at Hollywood. It's actually a lot lighter and fuzzier than it looks. Really, it looks fuzzy up close - and yes, that is tire tread in there

That track paid how much for that all weather crap??? Tire treads? why not rubber bands and used condoms too?

Dude, take a pill.

The tire treads are just from the chase vehicles tires wearing out when they were trying to keep up with Zenyatta the other day.
