Sounds like he wants to run in the Dirt Mile instead of the Classic. I think Borel and Super Saver might team up in the Dirt Mile.
Lukas should employ Borel on Mine That Bird in the BC Marathon and run Wow Wow Wow as a rabbit in the race to set the pace up for him. Hell, if he can convince the owners of Mine That Bird that he's the best trainer for them - he should be able to convince Mary Lou Whitney that Wow Wow Wow has been dying to run a dirt marathon. |

He came into the race off of 6 straight thumpings. That whole don't try to catch a falling knife theory would apply.

I thought Tidal Pool's debut on the turf was a success though.

I'm not pretending he's any good. But take him way back, get him relaxed, and he will pass everything that stops in front of him. Super Saver might be even more of a one-hit wonder. Besides the Derby, where is his other good race? |

Marathon seems most realistic.

Lukas showed with Azeri how clueless he can be about a horse. She wanted two turns, 8f-9f. So he ran her around one turn on Derby weekend (because it was a G1 and the 2-turn race was a G2), ran her at Belmont (all races in her range 1 turn), ran her at 10f. Now he has a one-paced horse with stamina ala Giacomo and wants to run him at a mile; better have a battalion of sacrificial sprinters to run 44-second half-miles ahead of him, like Giacomo had in the San Diego.
