Quote from the trainer himself in the DRF.

“I was trying to get a line on her by trying her on the grass,” Snyder said. “This is no big deal. It was a great experience for her. You’ve got to be on both sides. A lot of people are prepared for the win, and not prepared to be disappointed. I was prepared to be disappointed.”

If your intentions really aren't to sell a horse ... trying the filly on the turf at this time was not a bad idea.

Her sire's offspring have been only 2-for-50 first time on the turf - but she had a little turf breeding.

He basically missed out on a speed biased track in the Victory Ride - a 100K race where she'd have been lucky to finish 2nd - and instead he got a non-effort from her on a surface she clearly couldn't handle. It's not like he missed out on much.

Sad to hear that Tim Snyder passed away yesterday. My condolences to those that loved him. Tim & Lisa's Booby Trap.

He did what he loved, loved what he did. What more is there...? Godspeed, Tim.

You sure showed me. Of course there's this other thing from DRF:

http://www.drf.com/news/lisas-booby-...oup-turf-debut

"Tim Snyder, the owner and trainer of Lisa’s Booby Trap, said he believes the turf will be easier on his filly, who is blind her in left eye and has a club foot."

The actual quote's in another article somewhere, and is a little more blunt about it, but I did find this for the moment. It's DRF too so, you know, whoopie. Her shoulders aren't muscled the same so she's got a lopsided element to her, she's gotta wear a hind shoe on her front foot, the other one is pancaked, and she's blind in one eye. Can't imagine why he might want to make it as easy on her as possible.
