david williams is a scary bad guy...

from his 2007 essay on the subject:
The most troubling aspect I find in the gambling proponents’ disingenuous arguments is their assertion the taxes generated on gambling activity will come at no cost. States with casinos are breeding grounds for political and social ills that create a destabilizing effect on families. Every dollar that is spent in a Kentucky casino will go out of circulation instead of being spent for
necessities. People from all walks of life will contribute to this tax. However, the ones who will be hurt the most are those who lose the money they and their families need for rent, utilities, and food. The loss of that money and the corrupt activity that will come after that, the increased crime rate, the increased divorce and family violence rate, the increased social problems all help negate the perceived “benefit” of expanded gambling. The crime rates in casino communities are 84% higher than the national average. Bankruptcies also rise as predatory lenders prey on the vulnerable.

this from a guy who goes out of state to play black jack...but hes gonna save the poor buy not allowing that evil into the great commonwealth. I wish UK would just give him that athletic director job he keeps whining that he wants...

I love how goverments these days tell you exactly how to live... yet do the opposite themselves. How dare you spend money on entertainment! You have rent to pay! You are killing your children!

Stay out of our damn lives. And let industries do things that will allow them to prosper.

He is simply on the take. Obviously KY politicians are small time crooks compared to their breathren in IL or NY but this guys agenda is completely scripted for him. The problem is that the Dems are running two complete idiots against him. Seriously Delonte West and Dalakahni would be a more attractive pairing than either of these two clown parties.
